Qué es natural y que no./ Natural and not natural materials

Hola!!!

Esta semana estamos hablando de los materiales naturales y no naturales. Siempre comienzo el día hablando un poco del tema, para ver que ellas saben. Me mencionó algunas cosas, pero descubrí que esta confundida con los seres vivos y no vivos, que ya habíamos hablado. Le explique un poco mejor y entendió. / This week we will be learning about natural and not natural materials. I always start the day talking about our theme (we do unit studies), to have a better understanding of what they know. She mentioned some things, but I notice she though we were talking about living and not living things, a theme we already did. I explained it a little bit more and she got it.

Luego salimos al patio y leímos un mini-cuento (mini reader de Scholastic) de las cosas que vemos en la naturaleza como: ramas, flores, hojas, hormigas, plumas... Luego fueron a buscar cosas que fueran naturales./ The we went out to our backyard, and read a mini-book (mini readers from Scholastic) about what we see in nature, like: twigs, flowers, leaves, ants, feathers... Then they went to look for those kinds of things.

Al parecer entendieron... / They seem to get it...

Luego de examinar lo que encontramos y contestar preguntas, hablamos de las cosas que no eran naturales como los zapatos, el plástico y otro materiales. También hablamos de las cosas que usamos que salen de materiales naturales como el lápiz (de la madera y el carbón), de alguna ropa (algodón) y las páginas de las libretas (de los árboles)./ After we examine what we found and answer some questions, we talked about what's not natural likes plastic, acrylic, her shoes, and other things. We also talk about things that are made from natural materials like pencils, paper, some clothes and such.

Cada una tiene una libreta: Vivi (casi 3 años) tiene una de garabatos, Nani (4) tiene una de dibujar y Koki (6) tiene una de dibujar y escribir. Al terminar un cuento, un paseo o una historia les pido que dibujen lo más que les gustó. En este caso les pedí que dibujaran lo me hicieron y/o recolectaron./ Each one of them have a notebook: Vivi (almost 3yrs) a free drawing notebook, Nani (4 1/2 yrs), a "school notebook", in which she does some work when necessary, and Koki (6 yrs), a notebook where she draws about more specific things, she also labels them. At the end of a story, nature walk or a book, I ask them to draw what they like the most about it. They draw what they found.
